A New Year of Serving our Community

January 22, 2019

Saint Stephen Lutheran Church has committed, on an ongoing basis, to provide volunteers to help fill food orders at Antioch's Open Arms Mission on the fourth Thursday of every month... this month our shift falls on Jan 24th from 4:30pm til 6:30pm.

Though we have a core group of "dedicated regulars", it is ALWAYS a good time to "just show up" and help (or get partnered for training if you haven't done so yet). The bulk of the work is "going shopping" through the shelves of the Pantry, and fulfilling a list of requested items. Once delivered to a client, you get a new list and go shopping again! The main physical qualification is being able to periodically lift boxes of up to 30 lbs, which is basically the loading of completed food orders into the vehicles of the Food Pantry clients.

If you would like to participate in this very worthwhile community outreach, you can contact the church office, Dick Schlake, or Dennis Friedle... or just show up on Thursday!
