Water Damage - Update #1
As many of you are aware by now, on Friday morning, February 1st we discovered that sometime during the recent unprecedented cold weather, a pipe located in the attic above the Narthex froze and burst, causing ceiling and water damage in Saint Stephen’s Narthex, coat room, hallway, and a small portion of the Sanctuary.
ServePro, a flood cleanup and restoration company got to work Saturday morning, February 2nd to address the damage and cleanup. We are in process of moving forward with the insurance company. Once the building is dry and the extent of the damage is assessed and addressed restoration work will begin.
For the meantime we are open for “normal” business hours 8am-12pm Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and will hold Sunday morning worship in the Fellowship Hall until we feel it safe and accessible to worship in the Sanctuary. Please use the parking lot as usual and enter the building through the west entrance door near the Fellowship Hall on Sundays.
We will do our best to communicate with the congregation as each step of the process happens. We do know it will be several weeks at least but won’t have an accurate picture until the scope of the damage has been determined. We are very grateful that the damage was not more severe and are indebted to those who were our “first responders!”
As always, Council members and Pastor Rebecca are ready and willing to answer questions!
