Why Go To Worship?
As Lutherans, we should all have a SOLID understanding of the "why" behind regularly attending worship service, what happens there and what happens TO us both individually and collectively, and why not to fall into the trap of "Oh, I talk to God privately" or "God and I have together-time when I'm out in Nature". `
"Many people today like to claim that they can worship God anywhere so they don’t need to participate in a worship service.
Perhaps you know someone like that. While it’s true that you can have a heart full of thanksgiving and praise toward God anywhere, it’s important to recognize that there’s a lot more to worship than just expressing our feelings and thoughts toward God.
Too many people today think that worship is simply about “rendering your heart to God”. Download a praise song, climb up a pretty mountain, walk along the beach, have an emotional moment, give yourself up to God, and all is well, right?
Well, no, actually. All is not well"
Going to church, worshipping with your congregation at church, is not primarily about "becoing a better person". This article from the Life Through Lutheran Lenses website helps explain: https://lutheranlenses.com/2019/09/03/why-go-to-worship/
