Feed My Starving Children - March 2020

We had another great evening of assembling and packing emergency food relief packs for desperately hungry children in need through the ministry of Feed My Starving Children (FMSC).

Due to growing Coronavirus fears, what would normally have been a full packing floor with almost 200 volunteers from all over Lake County ended up with 75 instead, but we all pitched-in and made the most of the opportunity.

Packing stations in the warehouse are staged and ready to go! The bins on the carts are filled with either rice or soy granules, and wheeled out to the main area to refill packing stations as needed.

As always, participants receive a briefing before packing begins.

After the briefing, all participants thoroughly wash their hands and put on gloves before heading to the packing floor.

At our packing station. Each bag receives a large scoop of rice, another of soy granules, a small scoop of dehydrated mixed veggies, and one of vitamin powder.

Each bag is weighed before sealing; contents are adjusted as needed to attain a target weight.

The packs are quickly heat-sealed and staged for packing in their shipping boxes.

After the session end, there is a quick "out brief". Here are the results of the packing session, destined in this case for FMSC partner relief agencies in Guatamala.
